About ConeCat

A coordinated team, high standards, and one thing that's non-negotiable: loving the work.

Light finds its ideal moment a couple of times a day. We make the most of it, because a property is more than walls and rooms, it's the experience, the perception, and the emotion of walking in for the first time. A feeling we want to spark in everyone who sees our work.

ConeCat has been photographing Costa Rica's luxury market since 2019.

What defines us

Local & Proud

We're a Costa Rican business, through and through, built by families born and raised here, photographing the country we call home.

A small, 100% Costa Rican team, locals from every corner of the country.

Adaptable

Every project is different, so we listen first. Tell us what makes your property shine, everything that deserves to stand out, and we build the session around it.

We coordinate closely with you before and during the shoot, when weather, light, or access shifts, we adjust on the spot, always in favor of the best possible photo.

The Costa Rica difference

Meet the neighbors.

Sometimes a shoot pauses because a toucan lands on the railing, or a family of monkeys crosses through the trees on the property. We always enjoy photographing wildlife. For vacation rental guests, the wildlife is one of Costa Rica's biggest draws, as much a part of the stay as the pool or the view. These are the neighbors. Tap a photo for a closer look.

The team

Denisse (Cat) Cattano
Leadership, clients & photography

Denisse (Cat) Cattano

Our leader. She's the main point of contact with clients, runs admin, and coordinates logistics for the photographers out in the field. She has the final word on selection and final product quality. She's also our head coach: she's worked every role on the team and could still nail any of them, but these days she'd rather pass on that knowledge and hand out the work in a way that gets us better delivery times.

She has a natural talent for drawing, art, and color; moving from the canvas to the camera was a natural, well-placed step in her life. And with years spent reading clients and the market, she's the one who best understands what each property actually needs.

Today Cat still gets behind the camera herself from time to time, photographing properties for clients in the Greater Metropolitan Area, and she's happiest whenever she gets to be back out in the field.

Harry (Cone) Conejo
Systems & operations

Harry (Cone) Conejo

Runs the digital systems (gear selection and upkeep, licenses and software), the orchestrator of everything that happens behind the scenes. He's the one who keeps pushing us to the next level: his drive to keep getting better, his knack for solving tough problems, and his love of technology make him a key piece of ConeCat.

He designs our internal-management tools and this very website. Cone is the one keeping the ConeCat toys alive and picks tech gear like it's a tactical mission, with expensive taste, to be fair. His one obsession: make everything better, always, in operations and in visual quality.

Fran (Pancake) Cattano
Photography

Fran (Pancake) Cattano

The youngest of the Cattano sisters, today she carries a camera in hand, based out of Uvita de Osa. She handles photo and video capture, which almost always means a reality-show-worthy 4x4 adventure to reach homes tucked away in the mountains of Costa Ballena. If a house is practically up in the clouds, Fran already knows the way. She's also the video director: together with Kris, she plans and runs every shoot.

Pancake is helpful, patient, cheerful, and fun; her sayings and her exits always get a smile out of you. Sometimes her son Luka tags along, a beautiful kid who wins everyone over easily and occasionally moonlights as a model for a special shot.

Kris Valverde
Video & drone

Kris Valverde

Drone pilot and video editor, the one who makes houses look like they're floating. He runs every video tour, from first liftoff to final cut.

He's combined technique, motion, and technology to capture the smooth, continuous shots that make his tours shine. He also backs up and assists Fran out in the field; they share the 4x4 adventures.

Kris has been a key person at ConeCat. He's developed a wonderful talent for video, and every day he keeps learning and giving it his all so his work benefits our clients' goals.

Emma Escobar
HDR development

Emma Escobar

HDR editor, hand-layered. She's the first to see the raw material: she preps the digital development that decides which shots have what it takes to shine, quality control before anyone else touches them.

Emma handles the first pass of photo editing and makes the hidden potential in a shot jump out. She's also the one who keeps storage in check: she clears out the photos that didn't make the cut, makes sure everything fits where it should, and keeps categorization up to date; nothing gets lost, and nothing piles up.

Emma is incredibly structured, responsible, and organized in her work, and thanks to that, everything starts off on the right foot! Day to day, her little daughter Tucci is the sunshine in her office and the drive that keeps her going.

Josseline (Jota) Cattano
Layer editing

Josseline (Jota) Cattano

The middle Cattano sister, Jota is our layer editor. She preps light, shadow, depth, and texture masks on every photo, not to finish the shot herself, but to pave the way for it. This is one of the most important steps, and one of the most time-consuming: the photos are, to a large degree, what they are thanks to Jota's work and care in precisely building the masks used in the next stage of editing.

Jota is full of love and patience, and she likes being useful and helping whoever needs it. Over her time at ConeCat she's moved through other roles, but she's landed here out of love for her family and for this small company. Her daughter Eli is the oldest of the group's nieces and nephews, and a source of pride for all of us.

Mari Hidalgo
Color direction

Mari Hidalgo

Our newest addition, Mari is a full editor at ConeCat. The natural talent and love for design and painting she's had since she was a girl, along with her eye for the smallest details, make her the ideal person for this meticulous work. She gives every image its final touch, the exact color, light, and shadow that make a ConeCat photo look like a ConeCat photo, keeping the style consistent from session to session.

Mari is a psychology student, a sensitive and understanding person, determined to grow and give her best. We're lucky to have her as part of ConeCat, and we hope she'll be with us for a long time to come.
